Description

Half marathon loop through the north and south sections of Waywayanda State Park in NJ.  This loop wanders through most of Wawayanda park and follows mostly even terrain  with only 1330' total gain. The trails are a mix of multi use, foot travel only and woods roads watch out for mountain bikers and the occasional horseback rider.  There are some rocky sections on the trails around Wawayanda Lake. Starting at the pull off on Warwick Turnpike follow the AT south to the William Hoefferlin trail (blue) for two miles until it's end at Double Pond trail (yellow). Follow Double Pond for approx .25 mile to Plymouth Lane (red), there are some boardwalks on this section that can be slippery. At the end of Plymouth Lane bear right on Banker Road (green) to the parking area on Cherry Ridge Road. Pass through the gate and follow Cherry Ridge east to Laurel Pond trail (yellow) to Sitting Bear (orange). At the next junction bear left on South End trail (orange) around the lake. At the junction with Pump House (orange) turn right and follow north. Stay on Pump House until the parking area and boat launch at the north end of Wawayanda Lake. Opposite the boat launch is the start of Iron Mountain trail (blue). After 2.25 miles the trail connects with the William Hoeferlin trail, follow back to the AT junction and the finish.
