The West Exmoor round is the sister route to the East Exmoor Round, Both Starting and finishing in the town of Exford, Somerset. The West Exmoor Round takes in the areas west of Exford including Simonsbath, Parracombe, The Heddon Valley, South West Coastal Path, Valley of the Rocks, Lynmouth, Porlock and Porlock Wier to name but a few. This is a more remote route than the east round but that gives you incredible open moorland to navigate as well as beautiful valleys and high coastal cliffs.
There are plenty of places to top up water either in villages or you can dip streams with a filter flask if you so wish. The stretch from Lynmouth to Porlock Weir is beautiful but also a challenge with constant up and down of the coastal path to navigate with little access to water or crew points therefore go into that section prepared to have enough water and fuel.
I would love both the East and West round to establish themselves as and both running and walking routes in the aspiration that they bring people into this area of outstanding natural beauty.
