Description

The Wilkinson Memorial Trail is the longest trail in the Hudson Highlands Preserve. The trail is named for Samuel Wilkinson, a past president of the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference. It roughly follows the Dutchess-Putnam County line and is one of the few trails that crosses over the Breakneck/Fishkill Ridge. This trail receives less use than the super popular Breakneck and Casino Trails nearby, yet offers great views of the Hudson Valley, Catskill Mountains and New York City. The trail is roughly 7.7 miles long with 2600 feet of gain. The western trailhead is next to the Breakneck Ridge Station on Metro-North Railroad's Hudson Line. The trail is marked with yellow blazes.
