Description

"Chimney Evans" is a route from Golden, CO to the top of Mt Blue Sky, all by foot.  It includes a few paved roads, a few dirt roads, a short section of bike path, but mainly beautiful dirt single track.  Starting out on the classic Chimney Gulch trail in Golden, CO, you start by winding your way through the Beaver Brook trail, before eventually ending up near Evergreen, CO.  After a short bike path and paved road section, you'll find yourself weaving through some lesser known single track in Evergreen, CO before arriving at Elk Meadow Park.  A short and flat section through Elk Meadow Park and then a longer paved and dirt road section through Upper Bear Creek will lead you to the Beartracks TH where you'll start your long and arduous ~6,000' climb up to the summit of Mt Blue Sky.  Starting at 5,675' in Golden, CO and ending up at 14,265', means this is quite the uphill course, but takes you through many of the front range classics before popping out above tree line.  Once on the summit, you're able to look back and see exactly where you came from, making that finish line all the more rewarding.
