This route is an amalgamation of smaller greenways that formed along the Pequonnock River but was formally recognized by the state as a single, "developing" trail in 2001. The route follows what was once the Housatonic Railroad, and as such the trail is either paved or hard-packed dirt (aside from the last two or so miles) and boasts canopy coverage for the vast majority of the trail. Along this historic route you will see some of Connecticut's best green spaces, pass by Connecticut's only zoo, and watch the scenery change from bustling urban center to quiet wooded township as you knit together these disjointed trails. Please see the above websites for additional information regarding the PRT, there's simply far too many items of interest to restate them all here.

Going for the FKT tomorrow morning. This'll be my first run along the whole trail (have done most sections before) so looking forward to seeing it through!
