Description

Northshore Trail is a multi-use trail system on Lake Grapevine in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The trail is a 22+ mile loop of natural surface single-track that includes difficult to easy terrain through wooded land controlled by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Given the long trails, scenic views and proximity to the area's many runners, hikers and mountain bikers, Northshore is well-known to locals and is busy year-round.

The Northshore Double begins at the Twin Coves Park gate (Twin Coves Road) in Flower Mound, TX. From this starting point, the route follows the established trail system (counterclockwise) through Twin Coves Park, through the MADD Shelter, through Murrell Park to Rockledge Park in Grapevine, TX. Continue all the way to The Jackson Pavilion in Rockledge Park for the turnaround. The return again follows the established trail system (continuing counterclockwise) back to Murrell Park, MADD Shelter, Twin Coves Park and to the gate on Twin Coves Road. That's one loop of approximately 22.3 Miles.

One more identical loop completes the Northshore Double, ending at the Twin Coves gate, with approximately 45 Miles covered.  The Northshore Double is a rare ultramarathon distance challenge right in the heart of the DFW Metroplex.

I will be looking to attempt the FKT of the single out and back of Northshore trail tomorrow.
