Isabel and I ran the Lenggries Skyrace loop on Saturday, November 8th, 2025.
In the morning over some coffee, we started to plan our run. Initially, we wanted to run in Garmisch, but the DB construction had us looking elsewhere. We found this loop and saw that the trains were on schedule, so we booked it to Harras to grab the next BRB to Lenggries. From the station, we jogged over to the parking lot, did some mobility, and started the lap on our watches.
Going up the first climb, we started to second guess if running tights and long sleeves were the right choice. The sun was out and the temperature was warmer than the cold, foggy Munich we had left. Climbing up the north side was a bit chilly, with some frost still on the ground making it a little slippery.
We had been running here before, but we were still impressed by the variation of trails: nice flowy singletrack, steep climbs that required hands on thighs, and steeper scrambles that needed hands on rock. It really had it all. There were quite a few hikers out, especially on the last peak. From there, it was the final push down on some fun trail covered in leaves, making it a bit of a gamble what was underneath. Ankles stayed mostly straight, and we crossed the line back at the parking lot, lapped the watch, and completed the loop in just over 3 hours and 42 minutes.
We ran unsupported and carried everything we needed. Each of us had two flasks with some iso mix, salt tablets, and three gels. We didn’t refill water during the run. On the way back to the train, we stopped at the store to refill and grabbed the obligatory Spezi.
Really enjoyed this run and would recommend it to anyone looking for an exciting trail near Munich. Looking forward to seeing if any other couples make an attempt at it.
