Description

A grand tour of the major peaks, ridgelines and notches in the eastern half of the White Mountains on rugged technical terrain. Hope this becomes a classic route!

Approximately 77 miles with 27k of vertical gain

This triple infinity loop includes the Evans Notch Loop, Wild River Loop and a loop of the Northern Presidential Range. It crosses some truly wild terrain including ten 4,000-footers, the Baldfaces and even some remote peaks in Maine. It will take you through thick forests, open slabs and alpine boulder fields. Except for a few short out-and-backs to Moriah, East Royce and Speckled Mountain (< 2 miles total) the route does not repeat trail. It is almost entirely technical single track, with just about 1 mile of road walk.

The route crosses multiple trailheads and is ideal for a supported attempt and with multiple camping options it would make a great backpacking route. Runners/hikers can start the route at any location and go in any direction. Directions below depart from the Glenn Boulder Trailhead heading over the Presidential Range first.

Although there are a lot of trails, it's actually a pretty logical route. Mileage and trails is included as an image here. Do note that the Wild River must be forded, so this should not be attempted in high water.
