Description

Established in 1996, the Five Star Trail is one of the few "rails-with-trails" in Pennsylvania, located along the Southwestern PA Railroad corridor between Lynch Field in Greensburg and the Westmorland County Community College in Youngwood. The trail offers opportunities for non-motorized recreational activities, including walking, jogging, bicycling, and cross-country skiing. The crushed limestone trail surface is wide and flat, making it accessible to everyone regardless of physical ability

Start at the north east corner of the Lynch Field Aerobic Center parking lot. Follow the loop around Lynch Field in a clockwise direction, making sure to take the large loop. Take the 5 Star Trail toward Youngwood, PA until it comes to Trolley Line Ave. Stay on Trolley Line Ave until it comes to Depot St, and cut straight across to continue on the 5 Star Trail. Take the trail until it ends at E Hillis St. Turn left onto E Hillis. Stay left on Pavillion Ln when E Hillis turns right. Make a right onto the 5 Star Trail and take it to its end in Armbrust, PA.

Turn around and come back.

On the way back, follow the trail straight over Pavillion Ln until it comes to Depot St. Make a right onto Depot St, followed by a quick left onto Jacks Run Ave. Follow Jacks Run Ave until it ends on Trolley Line Ave. Make a right onto Trolley Line Ave. From this point, retrace your steps back to the starting line.
