Description

The Franconian Dunes Trail meassures 85km and leads through a unique sandy landscape in the south of Nuremberg. This landscape formed during the last two Ice Ages and is nowadays covered by forest in big parts. The trail passes by sand dunes, rock formations and crosses several rivers.Start and finish is in the Franconian town Altdorf. It's easily accessible by public transport from Nuremberg Main Station.

Signs: The entire trail is marked with white and yellow signs.

The trail was officially opened in 2013 by the Franconian Albverein. Its normally hiked in 5 day-stages and offers several cultural sights as well as restaurants on its way.
