Description

The GRX, standing for Great Range Extreme, is a 40-mile route of muddy, rocky terrain covering 17 of New York’s most iconic High Peaks in one continuous effort. This includes New York State’s tallest mountain, Mt. Marcy, right in the center of the route. With over 20,000 feet of elevation gain, you’ll be sure to feel your accomplishment the next day. Views of the entire route throughout the run offer an incredible perspective of the progress you’ve made as you go. By pushing through in one continuous effort, you’ll get to run through the night and experience some of the darkest, most star-filled skies in the country.

The route begins at the "Adirondack Loj" on “Van Hoevenberg Trail” and finishes on "Roostercomb Trail” at the "Roostercomb Parking Area" off of State Route 73.

The following peaks are summited:

Wright, Algonquin, Iroquois, Colden, Redfield, Cliff, Gray, Skylight, Marcy (Tallest in NY), Haystack, Basin, Saddleback, Gothics, Sawteeth, Armstrong, Upper Wolfjaw, and Lower Wolfjaw.

*Extreme caution as some of the trails are low maintained, resulting in difficult way finding and many obstacles to negotiate.*
