Katherine's Walk
This new 13.5km (8.5mile) route forms a loop to the west of Ampthill and Flitwick. The route can be walked in either direction and is easily accessed directly from housing areas on the west side of Ampthill and Flitwick; however, if necessary, the most appropriate place for those travelling by car to start is at the west car park in Ampthill Park. The route passes through Coopers Hill, an 18 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the western fringe of Ampthill, open farmland near Steppingley village, an extensive conifer woodland section near to the Centre Parcs holiday village and, last but not least, at Ampthill Park there are excellent views to the north over Marston Moretaine and on to Bedford.
