Description

The North Country National Scenic Trail runs 4,800 miles from North Dakota to Vermont. The segment of the trail passing through Pennsylvania from the Ohio state line to the New York border is approximately 284.8 miles (according to data on the NCT website). The Pennsylvania segment passes through numerous State Game Lands, State Parks including McConnell's Mill SP, Moraine SP, and Cook's Forest, and over idyllic country roads. The trail meanders along the lazy northern reaches of the Allegheny River where it passes through historic railroad tunnels ever making its way northwards where the final 100 miles takes you through Allegheny National Forest. The final 30 miles gives solitude, gorgeous trail, and views of Allegheny Reservoir. From Willow Bay trailhead an approximate 1.4 mile uphill walk takes you to the New York state line.

One end of the trail is where Blackhawk Rd/SR154 crosses the border OH/PA and the trail heads north. The other end is a few miles north of Rt 346 at the PA/NY border. Parking/drop off can be done at parking lot on Blackhawk Rd 0.3 miles from border (alternative stating point, trial spur to NCT) and at Rt 346 TH.
