Route: Pomperaug Trail (CT)

The Pomperaug Trail connects Kettletown State Park in Southbury with the Jackson Cove Recreation Area in Oxford. The Oxford Land Trust also hosts a section of the trail. Meandering through wetlands and woods and passing several charcoal hearth sites, the Pomperaug Trail ascends high, rocky ridges over Lake Zoar providing wonderful views. Rocks in some spots are studded with industrial grade garnets, which were harvested in the former garnet mine below the trail.  The trail is about 4 miles each way.
