Description

The Seven Devils Loop is about 27 miles and consists of the Seven Devils Trail and the South Boise Trail. Located well above and to the west of the small town of Riggins, the route begins around 7500ft above sea level. Most travelers hike counter-clockwise, taking on the the harder Windy Saddle climb first. The trail is well defined, dipping and climbing along wooded hillsides and rocky terrain. Much of the trail winds around large hills and has excellent views of Hells Canyon. Within the loop there are numerous lakes to visit, but expect at least 1 mile of hiking/running and 400 feet of climbing to reach them.

The fastest male time that I have been able to find for this route is by Jeff Mogavero on August 25, 2018, at around 4:38:59.  He ran it in the clockwise direction - https://www.strava.com/activities/1797185126/overview

I ran this in 5:01:13 on July 25, 2020 (counter-clockwise direction) - https://www.strava.com/activities/3812568279/overview

I've heard rumblings of times faster than Jeff's by a speedster in McCall, but I don't have any specific info.Â
