Description

26 km and 1265m circuit around the hills that form the skyline of the Shropshire town of Church Stretton. It takes in the ridges on both sides of the Stretton Gap that follows a geological fault line, the Stretton Fault. The itinerary takes in Ragleth Hill, Hazler Hill, the Hope Bowdler Hills, Caer Caradoc, The Lawley and The Long Mynd. Starting and finishing at the Green Dragon Pub in Little Stretton. The first half of the route is made up of short sharp climbs and descents. The second half is a long gradual ascent of the Long Mynd and then a long gradual descent back to Little Stretton. Mainly on footpaths, bridleways, open moorland and a few sections of road. Weather can be pretty cold on the tops, so remember a windproof. Not many places to stop for water or refreshment so an unsupported or supported style might be best.
