Start at the closed gate on Sulphur mountain road just past Casitas Springs. 10.23 miles to another identical gate and then back. total round trip is 20.46 with 2572 ft of elevation gain. (Or you can do it the other direction.) The road between the gates consists of fire road, double track, and a little bit of asphalt at the far end. Good scenery and very runnable the whole way. A very common place for people to run in the Ventura, Ojai area.
I will be attempting 1/16 unsupported!
Congrats Sophie, first FKT!
I’ll be running unsupported on 2/5/21! I love this trail and enjoyed it often when living in Ventura last year— but have never put out a full effort. Excited to be back, I hope the cows are out!
Woo! GREAT RUN! Ditto everything that Chris Gregory said in his Strava recap. The downhill was more of a grind than I'd hoped for, and Sophie was smart with the early start-- that final push to the top gate gets toasty! The cows were out-- I made sure I said, "hi" to them. :)
