The route was created to run beautiful Sydney's northern part of the harbour, upper, middle & lower harbour as a loop. The aim was to follow the water line as close as possible crossing at the narrowest part of the harbour to create a loop. The criteria had to be mostly trail with some roads to connect trail. It is approx. 90% technical single trail, 3% fire-trail, 7% bitumen road. Not only is it very scenic with wildlife and of course stunning water views running through National Park & reserves and among the beautiful North Shore suburbs of Sydney, but also a challenging 60km route very hilly and technical. It is fondly called The Waterway Ultra.
I will be attempting the Waterway Ultra, unassisted this Friday 13th August. I will follow the route above, starting Seaforth Oval and running anticlockwise.
