Route: Wheeler Peak (NV)

Location
Nevada, US
Distance
4.2 mi
Vertical Gain
2,800 ft
Description

Wheeler Peak (13,060'), in Great Basin National Park, is in some sense the highest mountain in Nevada. Although Boundary Peak is the highest point in Nevada, it’s on the shoulder of a mountain whose peak is taller (and in CA - Montgomery Peak). So Wheeler is the the highest mountain in Nevada (or highest independent mountain, if you'd like).  The trail to the top gains about 3000' in 4 miles.

The ascent has a Strava segment.

Kudos to popejoys and Meghan’s time.  Not sure why this is just the ascent though.  Times may exist somewhere for the car to car but I don’t know how to check strava so figured I would post my time just for others looking for a reference.
