Route: Oxfordshire Way (United Kingdom)

Distance
105.7 km
Vertical Gain

Description

The Way, a traverse of Oxfordshire from the Cotswolds to the Chilterns, links the Heart of England Way with the Thames Path National Trail across the rolling limestone countryside of the Cotswold Hills, passing through Shipton-under-Wychwood, Charlbury and other villages before crossing Otmoor to Studley, north of Oxford. Here it turns to Tetsworth and Pyrton, and crosses the open farmland and woods of the chalk hills of the Chilterns to reach the Thames at Henley.

It's reasonably flat and involved running along the side of a lot of fields, as well as running across many, often ploughed, fields.  The signposts are not as clear as they could be.

Hi Pip,

Good effort!

Why have you missed off the beginning of the Oxfordshire way? What is the reason for starting in Wyck Rissington and not at the start of the Oxfordshire way in Bourton-on-the-Water? I know it is only a few kilometres, just curious as to the reasoning.

Would also love to know the other 5 different ways!

Sam,

You have made a very valid point. Although most of the route was run accurately, the start of the Oxfordshire Way is indeed in Bourton-on-the-Water. As a result the FKT Team has taken the decision to remove this FKT attempt.

Regards,

Mike

FKT Team.
