The point to point trail is an entirely paved bike path/rail trail that is 27.5 miles in length and is almost entirely flat, with about 700’ of elevation over the 27.5 miles. The largest “hills” are the over passes heading over the major roads. I see no advantage to starting on either end, so I propose there is only one FKT for the route.

We chose to start on the northern end at the Yarmouth trail head on Lecount Hollow Rd. There are numerous small road crossings on the trail, however even on a busy summer day we didn’t have any issues and were able to run through all the crossings.

At mile 9.5 there is a right hand turn on to West Road and then a left hand turn into a neighborhood.

At mile 18.75 in Harwich the Cape Cod Rail Trail has an intersection (“bike rotary” or roundabout) with the Old Colony Rail Trail which heads to Chatham. Be sure to stay on the Cape Cod Rail Trail to the right and head towards Dennis

The Rail Trail used to end in Dennis at mile 22.5, however as of 2018/19 it now extends another 5 miles into Yarmouth.

The current official rail trail ends at mile 26.3 in Yarmouth on West Yarmouth Rd, just before the Bayberry Hills Golf Course. There is a public paved bike path extending through the golf course to mile 27.5 ending on Higgins Crowell Rd in Yarmouth.  NOTE:  The FKT is for the official route of the rail trail.

Update 8/25/22: The trail has been extended by .7mi on the north end. GPX file has been updated accordingly.
