The route starts at the Brünigpass rail station and ends at Interlaken Ost rail station. Typically Swiss, it is possible to travel to and from the start and finish by train. And the start and finish are clearly defined. From the Brünigpass there are various routes to the highest peak of the route, the Brienzer Rothorn. But the defined route is rather the fastest and most beautiful. 

This is a 20-mile link-up of the southern end of the Grand Hogback, a 75-mile ridgeline that spans from Meeker, CO to Glenwood Springs, CO. The Southern Grand Hogback Traverse begins at the natural demarcation of the Grand Hogback, where I-70 splits the range. The route is essentially entirely off-trail and involves significant bushwacking and navigation.

This route connects the two highest peaks in Bulgaria, located in two different mountains. Musala peak (2925m) in Rila mountain is the highest on the Balkan peninsula and Vihren peak (2914m) is in the Pirin mountains, second highest in the country. The distance between the two peaks is 77km and has 5000m D+ and 5000m D-. The average altitude is 2180m, the lowest point is 1140m - Predela pass. The terrain is mostly grassy and rocky paths along open mountain ridges - wider in Rila and much narrower in Pirin. Small part of the route goes through forests.
