Description

Hillsboro (10,020') and Sawyers (9,660') Peaks are in Gila National Forest.  This route features a a beautiful high altitude run in a remote area of New Mexico. There is a conveniently accessible parking lot, complete with a pooper, which offers free overnight parking. The starting point is in the center at Emory Pass which is located in the Gila National Forest (almost 3M acres in size). The route taken here was at an out and back to Hillsboro Peak (10.5 mile round trip) with a return to Emory Pass Parking Lot (good place to swap gear) and on to Sawyers Peak (8.5 mile round trip).
