The Lower Loop of Central Park is a very common spot for New York runners to do workouts on because of its relatively low elevation gain compared to the rest of the park. The transverse at 72nd street brings runners by the iconic Bethesda Fountain. The loop is run counter clockwise, notably passing Tavern on the Green, the Great Lawn, and Columbus Circle. The FKT is determined by most loops run during the open hours of Central Park, from 6AM - 1AM or 19 hours.
