Description

The Crazy Mountains Loop is an incredible loop through the rugged Crazy Mountains of Montana. The route goes through Campfire Lake and Moose Lake Basin and climbs up to Sunlight Lake. There are two large passes on the loop, but the trail is well maintained with water available at quite a few places along the route.

Hi all - I set a new unsupported FKT on this route on Saturday in 4:20:19. I ran from the original route starting from the Porcupine Trailhead, rather than the Sunlight Trailhead that Steven used. As he said, I think the route is relatively unchanged regardless of the decision, but I preferred the clean loop from Porcupine vs. the slight out and back required from Sunlight.

It rained heavily the first two hours which made for slower travel. Sub-4 hours is certainly possible here for a strong runner in good conditions. Would highly encourage others to take a stab at this - super high quality running and only saw one other party the whole day.
