At approximately 1625 hours on Tuesday 31st December 2019 in Portland, Victoria, I completed the 250km Great South West Walk in an anti-clock wise direction in four days, sixteen hours and twenty five minutes.
I commenced the run at 0700 on Friday 27 December 2019 in Portland. I was required to take a route diversion for 14kms from Cobboboonee camp site along the forest roads due to a fire. This was approx. the same amount of kms as if I had gone along the track.
My run was supported by Simone Backhausen and Simone Brick. Â
I have submitted the FKT for approval.Â

I am very happy to talk and give support to anybody who would like information about completing this FKT.

Going to try FKT for GSWW on the 27th November with Karen Robinson in supported female category together.
I'm hoping to create a Female Unsupported FKT for the Great South West Walk this coming weekend - starting out on Saturday 8 May. Depending on how I feel when I get to Nelson (and how good the hot chips smell!), it may revert to Self Supported :)
How did you go Kate? :)
Going to try set a somewhat competitive male Unsupported FKT for the Great South West Walk, starting tomorrow 14 April 2022. Ideally will get it done in under 4 days if all goes to plan!
Just finished up an unsupported FKT of the GSWW today, Friday Dec. 8 2023. Only shaved 6 hours off of Daniel's time because, similarly, a planned 4 day hike eventually turned into 5, haha. I thought I'd be able to push it on the last night, but trying to do an FKT in a pair of lone peaks that already logged 500 miles is not the smartest idea. My feet just couldn't hang. Anyways the wildlife was incredible, the weather was unbeatable, and the cliffs and capes were wild.
In terms of trail notes, the Ralph's bridge in the bush section is currently washed out and the trail is re-routed on some unsealed forest roads, which added about 2.5km/1.5 miles. Otherwise the track is currently in unbelievably good condition, maybe some of the best trail work I've ever seen tbh. The berth is so wide through the bush, which is great, because yes, there were plenty of snakes. A great walk, and a fun one to push yourself on.
