The Maine section of the International Appalachian Trail (IAT) is approximately 137 miles long. It traverses the Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument and then travels through the heart of Maine's rural, remote Aroostook County.
The Maine section of the IAT begins east of Baxter State Park on the national monument's Katahdin Loop Road. It ends at the Canadian Border crossing at Fort Fairfield, Maine/ Perth-Andover, New Brunswick.
