The North Shore Bike Path runs for nearly 8 miles between Lake Bluff and Mundelein, paralleling State Route 176 for the path's entire length. The path is a major connector between the Robert McClory Bike Path, and the shores of Lake Michigan, and destinations to the west, such as Libertyville and Mundelein. The entire path is paved. There are a few bridges and a couple underpasses. The eastern end is near the Lake Bluff Metra rail station. The western end is near Carmel Catholic High School. The Mundelein Metra Rail station is only a handful of blocks away. The path passes near a number of greenways and forest preserves. Two major ones include Middlefork Savanna Forest Preserve and Old School Forest Preserve. The North Shore path also intersects the Des Plaines River and Trail.

One-way efforts should improve on the CR in this Strava segment:

The western terminus of the trail is at the intersection with Brice Avenue. The eastern terminus appears to be a bit less obvious. Study in advance, and look for the trail junction shown on the map below, and in Trevor Wilson's initial FKT on Strava.

I am planning to run this as an out & back, unsupported run, on Friday, December 3rd. I'm going to run it starting and finishing on the west end, in Mundelein.
