Description

Prospect Park (500+ acres, 150+ years old, designed by Olmstead and Vaux) is often overshadowed by its sister in Manhattan, Central Park. However, it is no less important and iconic to the Brooklyn residents and visitors it serves. The 3.3 mile paved loop of East and West Drive is the place to be for local runners (and cyclists).

Since 2020, Prospect Park Track Club has held a 50 mile race comprising 15 full counter-clockwise loops. Acknowledging that race courses are typically not FKTs, the Prospect Park route has "strong community interest outside of the race itself." Therefore this route is a no.-of-loops-in-a-day type of challenge similar to those of Central Park. It will fill a noticeably lack of FKT routes within the city. The loop structure is conductive to self-supported or even unsupported attempts beyond race day. Though by no means a stunning mountain vista, the loop is a respite from city streets for thousands of local runners who experience it in all weather and seasons.

The loop is 3.3 miles long with little elevation, make as many rounds in a day during opening hours (6 am to 1 am) as possible.
