Description

Full length route of the historic Regent’s Canal.

Starting from the top of Paddington Basin, through the vibrant narrowboats of Little Venice, the canal winds through Regent’s Park, passing right by the towering aviary at London Zoo.

In Camden Town, it cuts through the heart of the famous market, packed with craft stalls, quirky fashion, and a solid dose of London’s alternative culture.

Only deviating from the canal towpath to skirt around gated moorings and the historic boat only tunnels, such as the 878m Islington boat tunnel (longest in London, and once navigated by workers who had to ‘leg’ boats through by pushing against the walls) it continues past the historic warehouses and converted mills lining the canal’s edge.

After skimming along the edge of Victoria Park the route reaches Limehouse Basin, where the canal meets the Thames. Once a vital interchange for goods coming in from all over the world and now a picturesque marina filled with yachts and houseboats.
