Amabilis Mtn is a solitary point of prominence rising up between the Yakima River and Kachess Lake. It looks over Kachess Lake, somewhat isolated and disconnected from the nearby massive ridgeline that ends with Keechelus Ridge. The interesting name seems to stem from the rich forests of Pacific silver fir (Abies amabilis) that cover the land. The name is also used by a Seattle based lifestyle brand of apparel and gear who no doubt found inspiration here.
