Description

Kitchitwaa Shkwaandem, roughly translated from its proper Anishinaabe name as Heaven's Gate, was acquired in 2021 through the incredible generosity of community donations. This project was made also possible by the Government of Canada through the Natural Heritage Conservation Program, part of Canada's Nature Fund, as well as funding from the Ontario Land Trust Alliance. The acquisition of Kitchitwaa Shkwaandem served to protect culturally and ecologically significant land from development, and bridge the gap between LaCloche Provincial Reserve and Killarney Provincial Park.

Hong Kong has four official long trails: Maclehose (100km), Wilson (78km), Lantau (70km), and Hong Kong (50km). The Tinworth Trail is designed to be the unofficial 5th Trail. It runs across Hong Kong from the northeast border with Mainland China at Sha Tau Kok to the picturesque fishing village of Tai O in Lantau Island’s southwest, and includes some of Hong Kong's most spectacular locations. It is approximately 90km long with 5000m positive elevation change. Do it all in one go or section by section - it's up to you!
