South Kaibab Rim to CO River to South Bright Angel Rim - [Grand Canyon]

Grand Canyon.

From South Kaibab down across the CO River to Phantom Ranch, then back up the South Bright Angel trail to the South Rim.

To start this run at the pre-dawn hours, watch the sun rise over the Canyon walls, is spiritual.  Only can be described and felt as someone who has been down there in person.

Grandview Peak

Description

A rugged classic that looms high above Salt Lake City, Grandview Peak is a lengthy trail run involving a good amount of gain. Starting from Big Mountain Pass, the Great Western Trail switchbacks north heading toward the popular Big Mountain area. Less than a mile and a half, you get your first of many views of the pointed summit in the distance. The trail consists of mostly singletrack, with some doubletrack along the ridge between Big Mountain and the fork before Swallow Rocks. But don't assume it's going to be a walk in the park.

Bears Ears Trail #1144

Submitted by Mark Buchanan on Tue, 07/04/2023 - 04:04pm
Description

The Bear's Ears Trail is contained within Routt National Forest. It passes thru both Routt County and Moffat County. Officially it's 47 Miles from end to end, but if you connect it by a 3-mile section of County Rd 80 in California Park then it makes a nice loop. I started hiking sections when I moved to Craig Colorado in 2014. I have completed this trail a number of times. Twice in one day and once on an overnight speed packing trip. I have never passed more than 5 people on the entire route.

Here is a chance to check out all the 4,000' peaks in Maine. Though the areas are remote and you will have to do a lot of driving, it was great to be able to figure out a route to see what Maine has to offer.
