The Ironstone Loop is a 14.6 mile route through Rothrock State Forest. It was first created by Tom Thwaites, father of Pennsylvania's Mid State Trail. It traverses old rail beds, winding singletrack, stone stairs, and soaring ridges. It also snakes its way around Lake Perez, home of Shaver's Creek Environmental Center. A classic Pennsylvania route, it has a little bit of everything - rocks, roots, streams, laurel, and hemlock trees.
hi, i'm setting out in a couple hours today to set an unsupported FKT on this loop! I'll be starting and ending at the Jo Hays vista parking lot.
