Description

Based on the traditional Strawberry Mountain Wilderness Loop, the more appropriately named Strawberry Lollipop is a 19-mile loop trail extensively exploring the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness. This sweet adventure visits 4 sizeable lakes and the wilderness highpoint, Strawberry Mountain. Water is found often along the route and camping is available at the trailhead, located in the semi-developed Strawberry Campground (with vault toilet, picnic tables, firepits, shaded parking areas, and drinking faucets). No fees are required to park or hike this loop; however, there's an $8 fee to camp at the trailhead. It's also worth noting that ~2 miles before reaching Strawberry Campground (located 11 miles south of Prairie City, Oregon), you'll pass by Slide Creek Campground which is free and has 3 sites, and located on Strawberry Creek as well. Mandatory must-dos along this route include encircling Slide Lake, summiting Strawberry Mountain, and touching the waters of Little Strawberry Lake. *All junctions along this loop are signed and all trails followed are well-graded and maintained.
