Description

The route is an out & back of the paved paths of the North Branch Trail system, reaching from northern end of Chicago to the botanic gardens in Skokie. Out & back on the Red trail, and complete loop of the Black trail (36.4 miles total) on this map:

VARIATION:  There is now a Variation which is the same trail one way from Chicago to Northbrook:

 

North Branch Trail north and black trail around Skokie Lagoons to make up the 20 mile route. Beautiful paved trail ranging from Chicago up to Northbrook. Trail winds along the North Branch of the Chicago River through forests, fields, over and under highways and through neighborhoods.

I'm planning on attempting this route this upcoming Sunday. I will attempt this Self supported and document the attempt via garmin and strava along with pictures and social media updates along the route.

I will be completing the out and back July 31st.  July 30th if I get antsy.

On May 21st, I will be attempting an FKT on the 36.4 out and back route, to hopefully beat the current time set by Tommy Crawford and Mark Eisenman.
