An extended variation of one of the ADK's most iconic loops located in the West Canada Lakes Wilderness. The French Louie Loop which is named after the famous Louis Seymour, known as "French Louie" or "Adirondack French Louie" (c. 1832–February 28, 1915) was an Adirondack guide, trapper, woodsman and hermit. After completing the loop the ascent to the Pillsbury Mountain Fire Tower is added on making this the extended version of the " standard loop." Pillsbury Mountain overlooks the mixed coniferous forest of the Adirondacks with incredible views that span for miles.

The Wasatch Back to Front to Timp.

Start on East Eagle Trail for a mile and a half and go right up "the box" on Krag Peak's west side. Scramble up the loose, steep rib that divides two prominent drainages (the box) up to the west summit of Krag. Sections of exposure with big loose blocks will be encountered, use caution! Traverse over to the east summit and continue along the crest then down towards Crater Lake and the Kettle Creek Trail. Descend this trail down and back to the East Eagle trailhead.

This fantastic loop hits all 3 Rainbow summits(Rainbow Peak, Rainbow Mtn, Rainbow Wall), flows very well, and includes over 2800 vertical feet of class 3-5.2 scrambling with the majority in the class 4-5 range. Starting at Oak Creek Canyon pull off/dirt parking lot, run down Oak Creek Canyon Trail, climb Rainbow Peak via Rainbow Direct 5.2band then traverse over Rainbow Mountain and Rainbow Wall on mostly 3rd class and 2 short pitches of 4th class. From Rainbow Wall descend Oak Creek Canyon with lots of class 3 and a little bit of 4th class downclimbing on dry waterfalls.
