Connecting the Tongariro Northern Circuit with Ruapheu Round The Mountain the V3 route takes the runner on an epic adventure through the Tonogariro National Park. Featuring some runnable flowy tracks of the Northern Circuit, but equally highly technical ascents and descents throughout the Rangipo desert and the lahar valleys of the Western slopes of Tongariro. The route can be run in either direction and consideration should be taken for snow, ice and adverse weather.Starting and ending in Whakapapa Village (although as a loop could equally be started from the Ohakune Mountain Road. 

The route starts in Barcelona (Horta) and follows the GR6 and Cami de Santiago to get to the Monastir of Montserrat.

You can follow GR6 red/white marks (pay attention to variants and other GRs), you can find the original tracks online, or the yellow arrows for the Cami De Santiago. 
 

The route is nicer than one could expect, provided that it begins in a major city and it has to go through some towns and urban areas. I estimate 20% trails, 50% dirt roads, and 30% roads.
