Dartmoor 600s (United Kingdom)

Submitted by Ceri on Tue, 05/04/2021 - 04:00am
Description

The challenge is to complete all five of the Dartmoor peaks that are over 600m -  Cut Hill, Whitehorse, Hangingstone Hill, High Willhays and Yes Tor - as quickly as possible.

Start location: Free car park just east of the Dartmoor Inn in Lydford, Devon.

The route is a navigational challenge, as well as a test of your fell running skills. It requires you to choose the best line and to pick the right day, as heavy rain or wind, or  firing on any of the firing ranges may prevent a FKT attempt.

Pine Creek Rail Trail (PA)

Submitted by mcgowantk on Mon, 05/03/2021 - 07:13pm
Description

The Pine Creek Rail Trail is a railroad that was converted to a cinder trail.  It starts near Wellsboro, PA and finished in Jersey Shore, PA.  Generally, it follows Pine Creek, a beautiful stream that flows down the "Pennsylvania Grand Canyon."  It is in a very remote part of PA with no cell service, except for 1/2 mile about mid-way through.  The trail is marked very well the entire length.  It starts at a yellow gate on Mile 0 and ends in a parking lot in Jersey Shore at Mile Post 63 (although it is not quite 63 miles long).

Majors Mountain (Barstow, CA)

Submitted by SirZog on Mon, 05/03/2021 - 04:56pm
Description

Up and down Majors Mountain, starting from Joseph L. Boll Ave, just west of Sorensen Field, outside Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow. Run north through the gravel parking lot and follow it all the way down until your forced to make a right.  At this point this is where the run gets fun.  You’ll see a large metal pipe going under the rail road tracks. Proceed under the rail road tracks and head straight out onto the gravel/sand road leading into what is commonly known as the Mojave River bed.  Follow the sand road path up to the fire break road roughly a mile ahead.
