High Peaks Wilderness Traverse (NY)
The High Peaks Wilderness is the largest Forest Preserve in New York and the most popular desination in the entire six-million acred Adirondack Park. 42 of 46 "Adirondack High Peaks" are located within its boundaries. Streams, rivers, ponds, lakes, and cliffs are also scattered throughout. The High Peaks Wilderness Traverse (conceived by Nick Arndt) connects its westernmost trailhead to its easternmost trailhead, via trail, via the most direct line.
Haut Lieu Rigaud (QC, Canada)
This is the main loop of the L’escapade Trails in Rigaud. They are wide trails with various ground conditions and rolling ups and downs. The trail is multi-use and is also used by horses and is available for cross-country skiing during the winter.
The loop can be accessed in the east off of Chemin St. Georges Rd or hikers can connect to the trail from the city using the La Clé des Bois connector trail.
Hiawatha Trail and Bearskin State Trail (WI)
The 32 mile Bearskin-Hiawatha trail begins at the Bearskin Trailhead Park in Minocqua, WI. The trail then runs south finishing outside of Sara Park in the parking lot of the town library in Tomahawk, WI. This trail system is a combination of both the Bearskin State Trail and the Hiawatha trail. There is a 4.1 mile stretch of country roads that connect the two trails.
