A lap consists of running from the bottom to the top, and back.

Route begins at the San Pasqual Valley Staging area, 50 kilometers inland from the coast, and tracks west to the Pacific Ocean at Seagrove Park in Del Mar.  Trail covers approximately 50% of the entire Coast to Crest Trail located in San Diego County, CA, which follows the San Dieguito River watershed and meanders 32 miles through oak woodlands, grasslands, and chaparral to the San Dieguito Lagoon where it flows into the Pacific. It is the most intact watershed remaining in San Diego County and contains a variety of diverse ecosystems, plants, and wildlife.
