Description

The Toiyabe Crest trail is a true hidden gem! Located in the middle of the Nevada desert, 4 hours from Reno, you are almost guaranteed to not run into another person on this trail. The trail was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and has fallen into disrepair, however, many people are trying to revive this National Scenic Trail. The trail has an elevation range from 6345' to 11,775' and the majority of it is above treeline.

Description

This beautiful trail run starts near Alpaca Coffee in Idyllwild before immediately turning left to climb Tahquitz View Drive to the South Ridge Trailhead. Continue climbing the the South Ridge switchbacks to Tahquitz Peak (8845'), then drop into the Tahquitz Valley.  Drop back down into the San Jacinto Wilderness before a big climb to San Jacinto Peak (10834') then a descent via North Fork to Deer Springs Trail to the finish.

This one had it all. Waterfall. Snow. And lots of heat. Absolutely amongst the best trail routes in SoCal.
