The Vertical Jungfrau Marathon leads from Stechelberg up to the Jungfrau a 4,158-meter-high peak of the bernese alps. The route involves technical approach terrain, two rock walls (difficulties up to 7a (6c obl.)) and a serious high-altitude tour/ridge climb until the summit of the Jungfrau. The history of this logical line were born by Res Leibundgut and Sacha Wettstein who has been the first ones to combine the Stägers Bürtplätz and Fätze Bitze in 1997 finishing with the Silberhorngrat until the summit of the Jumgfrau.

This course takes us around the entire city of Indore, starting and ending at the famous world cup square. We start and head north along ring road, taking a left from Radisson hotel. From here we head all the way towards the airport along the super corridor stretch. We cross the airport on our right and head down to get to the ring road near sirpur lake. From here it is all along the ring road, crossing choitram sq, regional park, palda, all the way back to the World Cup. 

This route starts at the base of the Steamboat Gondola and finishes by touching Thunderhead Lodge.

The recommended course is to take the Thunderhead Trail until splitting off for the final push to the finish, but the FKT is from the base to Thunderhead Lodge by defined trails. It is up to each athlete to determine the trails that they'd like to utilize that match their strengths in order to set the quickest time possible.

No matter what route you choose, strength in long ascents will be needed to conquer this FKT.
