South Mountains State Park is located just south of Morganton, NC. It's NC's biggest state park with a monster postman route of at least 70 miles and 14,000' climb! You'll need permission to cross the park's undeveloped midsection. Any link-up of Clear Creek and Jacob Fork Access Areas will involve bushwhacking. The Ring of Inverpolly is a circuit of seven summits in the wilds of Assynt. Starting and finishing in Elphin, the route includes (in this order) Cul Mor, Cul Beag, Beinn Mor Coigach, Sgurr an Fhidleir, Stac Pollaidh, Suilven, and Canisp. This route was devised and completed for the first time by Alec Keith in a time of 13 hours and 12 mins on 30th August 1998.
