Description

The Hertogenpad (the dukes path) is a special combination of greenery and conviviality. The 238 kilometer long path leads you past welcoming Brabant villages, dust, sand and peat swamps, over purple heathlands and sometimes swampy bat paths. The walking route from Breda to Roermond is a special series of beautiful nature reserves such as the Loonse and Drunense dunes, the Maashorst and the Groote Peel. It is one of the LAW paths in the Netherlands (long distance hiking) and is also called LAW 13 (picture).

Mitre Peak

Description

Mitre Peak is an iconic peak nearby Milford Sound.

To access the peak you must kayak 2km from Milford Sound to the base of the peak. There is no real track at first up through very steep bush but a faint track forms on the ridge which gives way to some fun class 4 rock scrambling on the summit crest.

Incredible views all around from the summit of the sounds and Fiordland Mountains.

Back down the same way. Watch for swell in the afternoon return.
