Waipo O Falls

The “Waipo O Falls” trail is in Waimea on the west coast of Kauai. This is an extremely popular hike but haven’t seen many people run it. I decided to run it to check out the views of Waimea Canyon and check at the lush waterfall at the bottom. I was not expecting to dodge so many people on the trail, including a search and rescue training team with a person on a stretcher but it was a stunning run with wide open views of cliffs, the ocean and Waimea canyon.

Description

Wasaga Beach boasts the longest freshwater beach in the world. Traverse the sandy Beach Areas 1-6 of the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park, getting as close to the shore and waves as possible. If starting at Beach 6, start at the end of the beach off of 71st St N and Shore Lane (shown in the first photo with some rocks at the shoreline). If starting at Beach 1, start on the beach off of Jenetta St, across from the boat launch (see below for further information on closures, seen in the second photo with pristine sand).

Tibbetts Mountain

Description

Tibbetts Mountain ascent taking the shortest and steepest route up. The "top" is a small cut out on the right-side of the trail that has been cleared out for a rest spot/viewpoint. There are several cairns here, and is easily distinguishable when you come across it. This is important to note, as the top gets quite overgrown and bushwhack-y, so it is the best landmark to look for as a "finish line."
