The Burnley Way

Description

A varied route around Burnley with a wide range of terrain, from the town centre and Calder riverside and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal towpath it passes a number of reservoirs, but it also climbs onto high moorland. It includes Forest of Burnley woodlands and the wilder South Pennine Moors with the route's highest point at Thieveley Pike, and industrial heritage such as from past limestone extraction at Shedden Clough contrasted with the nearby windfarm at Coal Clough. Updated in 2008, it is described in six sections each with public transport links.

White Clouds Wilderness Loop

Description

Situated on the east side of the Sawtooth Valley, the White Cloud Peaks are an extremely underrated part of the region. This loop has all the majesty of anything else anywhere. From some mild Class 3 travel over the Devil’s Anus, to miles upon miles of bomber singletrack, you’re bound to have a ton of fun no matter your pace. Lakes, peaks, basins, and valleys abound, as does both forest time and alpine time. Truly a loop for the ages.
