Dunglass Island and the Conon, Maryburgh

Description

This attractive route combines sections alongside the broad River Conon and a circuit around Dunglass Island - once the site of a fort. The return is along a fine avenue of trees with views over the Cromarty Firth.

The route contains of paths along farm fields and the riverside; return is on an attractive track. Can be muddy in places.

Dochgarroch Locks and Caledonian Canal (Inverness)

Description

This very popular and almost level route follows the Caledonian Canal towpath from Inverness to the locks at Dochgarroch, returning on the far bank; there is usually plenty of activity on the water and on the route itself (runners and walkers).

The start is at Whin Park, Inverness with sufficient parking spaces.

Alta Via n.3 delle Dolomiti (Italy)

Description

The Alta Via No. 3 of the Dolomites connects Villabassa-Niederdorf with Longarone by a rugged and demanding trail through five mountain ranges in the Eastern and Belluno Dolomites.

The trail has considerable height differences and is equipped at some exposed sections. There are alternative paths to the traditional route, especially in the first half of the trail.
