Description

A small round of the notable Campsie hills over 500 m starting and finishing from the village fountain in Fintry.

The hills were selected on the basis of them having a prominent summit, spot height marked 500 m AOD or greater on a 1:50,000 scale OS.

I’m sure it’s been done before, but couldn’t find much information online to suggest it had been completed from the same start / end point. The summits can be done in any order via any route starting and finishing from the village fountain (picture) which is in the triangle, next to the bridge.

Description

Ruby Dome is the highest peak in the Ruby Mountains and Elko County standing at 11,387+ft. The route is approximately 4.7 miles and climbs 4,865' starting at Griswold Trailhead. The trail leads to Griswold Lake on a well-traveled trail with cairns dispersed intermittently after 2 miles. Griswold Lake is 3.3 miles and about a 2700' climb from the trailhead. The remainder of the route does not have a well-traveled trail but there are cairns to follow on top of the saddle on the final push to the summit.
