Description

This loop hike climbs to the second-highest peak in the Catskills, with outstanding views from the fire tower at the summit and from several other viewpoints along the trail. Above 4000 feet and one of the NH111, this hike is a must!

This trail takes the Becker Hollow Trail (the hardest climb up Hunter) to the fire tower. From there take the Hunter Mountain Trail to a look out .1 before hoping back on the Becker Hollow Trail to head back down.

Johnson's Trail

Submitted by go_shep on Mon, 05/30/2022 - 08:40pm
Description

The lollipop route begins at the Moody's Crossing gate and follows the Smoky river downstream to the peninsula. This peninsula bluff has been carved out by the unique bend in the river and offers panoramic views of the river valley. The route continues back via the lollipop loop and returns to Moody's Crossing.

The majority of this route is double track. Short steep climbs and substantial trail debris adds to the challenge of this route.
